Wet Scrubber RECO-CLEAN
The RECO-CLEAN unit has many applications, e.g. cleaning of flue and process gases, energy recovery from process gases and liquids and the neutralisation of liquids and gases.

Scrubber with chilled packing The RECO-CLEAN is a scrubber of modular construction containing thin horizontal tubes through which the cooling media (generally water) passes. The scrubber liquid and the warm polluted flue or process gases pass on the outside of the tubes. The tubes hereby work as chilled packing in a packed scrubber, with the outside surface of the tube serving as both contact surface for gas - /scrubber liquid and as heat exchanger surface.

High efficient scrubbing function The liquid film on the outside of the scrubber tube has a considerably lower temperature than the corresponding in an un-chilled packing in a conventinal packed tower. The scrubbing efficiency is hereby significantly enhanced. "The splash function", with droplet release on the underside of the tube and the drop bombardment of the underlying tube, has a very positive effect on both the heat and mass transfer and counteracts accumulation of dirt. For very difficult applications, e.g. when scrubbing dust loaded flue gases from wood chip and bio fuel dryers, the contact surfaces can also be cleaned automatically during operation with the same method as used for the condenser RECO-EX-A. Efficient heat recovery In the RECO-CLEAN unit heat is recovered from the hot gases, and, also from the scrubber liquid, if this for example is made up of hot discharge water. Through the counter flow system and due to the high heat transfer coefficient that is achieved with the RECO-CLEAN design, the recovery becomes very efficient. For those cases where gases carry a large share of sensible heat, the RECO-CLEAN unit can be made with an upper dry stage with high temperature efficiency and a lower wet stage with high enthalpy efficiency. High value discharge heat can hereby be recovered, without evaporative temperature losses. Neutralisation of gases and liquids The efficient contact surfaces between gases / liquids in the RECO-CLEAN unit also create conditions for utilising the unit as a reactor for gas- and liquid reactions, with applications such as for neutralising alkaline process discharges with the aid of SO2, or CO2 from the flue gases and for stripping NH3, etc. |
