Busy days for the Radscan engineering staff. We are at present running 5 big projects with a total order value exceeding 40 M€. Dåva 2, Umeå Energi AB: Full speed in design process, site work will start in september 2007 and commissioning during autumn 2009. Wärtsilä Power Plants, Biopower, has ordered yet another flue gas condensation system from Radscan Intervex AB. The power plant is located in the city of Marks, Sweden. The condensor is Radscan Intervex standard, a vertically oriented tubular heat exchanger with the fluegas inside the tubes directed downwards.

We are pleased to note that the technology used in Sweden since the 1980´s is spreading in the Baltic region. The technology saves not only energy but is also the environment. The Utena plant has an 8MW thermal output from biofuel. The new flue gas condensor increases this capacity by 25%. |

AS Anne Soojus (Tartu Energia) has ordered a flue gas condensing system for two existing bio mass boilers with a total thermal output of 36MW. Radscan Intervex AB has received the order as a turn key project including new building, condensate cleaning system, new stack, control system etc.

We have received an order from Finland. Kuusankosken Aluelämmitys OY has decided to cooperate with Optiroc Oy to recover energy from their production plant and use it for the district heating system. Flue gas from the Optiroc plant in Kuusankoski shall be cooled and energy-recovered. The boiler is a rotating drum producing Leca material. We are setting up a complete flue-gas condensation installation, including economizer, heat exchangers and pumps. The plant is to be in operation already by October this year. It will be running all year long and will continually recover 2-8 MW of energy. Energy that earlier has “gone up in smoke”.

The customers priority is to recover heat of exhaust gases, which are today led to the chimney. The heat recovered amounts up to approximately 550-750 kW to be used for preheating of process water. Approximately 10-15 m3/h hot water of 45-55 °C will be heated. As additional effect they will achieve approximately 60-70% removal efficiency for the hydrocarbons in gaseous form. To be able cleaning the exhaust gases from hydrocarbons, the gas temperature has to be brought down to such a low temperature that they condense to form of aerosols consisting of fine droplets. Only condenser was necessary in this case for obtain sufficient separation of the oils. Fashion Dyers & Finishers Ltd care about the environmental. To get more efficient cleaning they add our RECO-LECTOR electrostatic precipitator. The exhaust gases are cooled in the heat exchanger/condenser and a great deal of the oils is collected on the condenser tubes. To maintain high heat recovery efficiency the condenser is equipped with automatic cleaning of the tubes. It is not possible to maintain a steady and high efficiency on heat recovery and particle collection without the automatic cleaning. |

Our efforts on the export markets have once again proved fruitful. KoSa Gmbh is one of Germany’s largest producers of synthetic high-tech textile fibres and filaments. KoSa Gmbh (www.kosa.com) has a number of plants, one of them is Bad Hersfeld with a few hundred employees. The unit was earlier part of the Hoechst Trevira group of companies (www.trevira.de), specialising in high-tech textile materials. Main production is polyester fibres with different thickness and strengths. We have earlier delivered a complete flue gas cleaning system for all five polyester production lines, with many heat exchangers of type Reco-Ex-A and electro-filters of type Reco-Lector. The installation is now supplemented with a horizontal high-temperature condenser of type Reco-Ex-A, HTK for temperatures over 200°C. |

The production of the flue gas condenser for Örebro continues according to plan. The equipment will weigh over 90 tons, when filled with water the weight will increase to 140 tons.

Sermet OY has ordered another flue gas condenser unit from us. The delivery shall be made on very short notice. The Finns are used to short times between order and delivery, which suits our organisation well, since we are flexible and like it when everything goes quick. The condenser is our “standard” tube-cooler with the gas in a vertical down direction inside the tubes. Delsbo is situated in a wonderful spot of Hälsingland in Sweden, well known for the traditional folk dancing. |

Today at the Åby plant in Örebro there are five heating boilers. The newest boiler P5 is of type CFB, which was commissioned in 1991, and will be furnished with a flue gas condenser. The boiler has an effect of 170 MW and is fired mainly by a mixture of peat and wooden fuel, which is made out of RT-flakes, creosote-flakes, and normal forest fuel consisting of bark, sawdust, and wooden flakes. Sydkraft Mälarvärme has decided to invest in a plant for the condensation of flue gases. The order went to Radscan Intervex, including a complete plant for the cleaning of the condensation. The total sum of the order is over 3 000 000 EUR and is our biggest order so far. The commitment intends to be a so called turn-key delivery, including stand work, mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as a measuring and control system. The plant will include Sweden’s (or maybe the world’s) biggest flue gas condenser as well as top modern equipment for condensate cleaning. Environmental issues are of great importance to Sydkraft’s business and for this project they have decided to push the condensate cleaning further than what has been done before. The condensate will therefore be cleaned as much as possible, in order to make it reusable in the process. The condensate cleaning system to be installed is well proven, but still the first of its kind. Radscan Intervex will implement a modern method that is both effective and safe, with a low cost.

The installation of two flue gas condensation units was completed during the summer. One at Gullberna, Karlskrona is for a 12 MW boiler and the other at Visby is for a 13 MW boiler. The picture shows the condition of the Visby project when the main components, a flue gas cooler and rotating humidifier were being mounted.

28.06.2000 Trelleborg Building Systems The building enclosing our RECO_LECTOR system at the Norregårds factory was completed during June. More than 20,000 m3/h of curing fumes from 5 production lines is cooled and cleaned with our further-developed condenser and electrostatic filter system. The cleaning effect is at the 90% level. The photograph illustrates the installation of our unit.

25.06.2000 Hudik Kraft AB We have received a large order from Hudik Kraft AB. We are to supply a complete flue-gas condensation installation, including humidification of the combustion air, for a 50 MW boiler. Our responsibility includes, in addition to a Reco-Flue flue gas condenser and a Roto-Flue humidifier, a new chimney, ducts, district heating pipes, district heating pump and condensate cleaning. The plant is to be in operation by the end of the year so the schedule is tight.

15.06.2000 Installation in Horda operational We have delivered a post curing furnace for VAMAC rubber with associated cleaning equipment to Trelleborg Automotive AB. The cleaning equipment includes our new, modern, condensation- electrostatic W type RECO-LECTOR filter for cleaning highly viscous and sticky constituents. The installation is completely automatic with an advanced PLC + PC control system.
