Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt visits the Radscan workshop in Nyköping.

The Managing Director of Radscan Intervex, Mr Gunnar Råbe, informed about the company situation with many orders and inquiries.

Guldstänks Environmental price 2008 – awarded to Radscan Intervex.

Justification:
Radscan Intervex is a company with long tradition and with its base in Västerås.

The company is since 30 years active in the field of industrial energy recovery and had specialized in energy recovery from flue gases through condensation.

The energy recovery and cleaning of flue gases is executed in the same system. The company has shown significant growth the last years mainly because of its success in the flue gas condensation market.

The staff at Radscan Intervex is very honoured and proud of this price, the price will therefore be used to even more increase our contribution to a better environment.

01.03.2008 Fortum Värme, Värtan KVV6 Projekt 22248 VÄN

Fortum is investing in a flue gas condensation plant to their PFBC boilers in Värtan, Stockholm.
The fuel is coal with only approx. 4% moisture. The coal is however ground and mixed with lime and water producing a slurry which can be pumped, now with a moisture content of approx. 11%.
Now the flue gas can be condensed with an ordinary DH condenser. The investment is however only profitable if adding a second condensing unit connected to a heat pump.

As usual a condensate cleaning system is delivered.

Scope of delivery:

Condensors (4 units) , flue gas ducts in mild- and stainless steel, flue gas fan, silencer, stainless steel duct in stack, demister, DH/Heat Pump piping, MF, UF1, UF2, CO2, RO1, NH4, heavy metal removal system, complete building excluding civil works, MCC and Control system, stairs and service platforms.

Technical data flue gas and DH/Heta Pump system:

Flue gas: 81Nm3/s, 110°C, 11vol-% H2O
DH: 1500m3/h, 40-48°C
Heat Pump: 1500m3/h, 18-33°C
Heat Recovery: 46MW

Technical data flue gas condensate:
40m3/h, purified to suspension<8mg/l, Cd <1µg/l, Hg<0,5µg/l, NH4<12mg/l.

RO1-permeat purified till <400 µs/cm (coal slurry preparation)



12.02.2008 The scrubber to Umeå delivered to site.

The scrubber for the Umeå project is delivered to site. The "small" crane in the foreground gives a hint of the size.

05.02.2008 Delivery for Rättviks lime factory .

4 Reco-Ex-A will be delivered to Rättvik lime factory, 2 of these 4 units are now installed.











01.02.2008 New process engineer employed

Daryoush Kikhavani is today starting his career at Radscan Intervex as process engineer.

Daryoush is 34 år years old and is just graduated as a Master of Science from Umeå University with special interest in energy technology. He also has a Bachelor degree from Isfahan University of Technology in mechanical engineering.

During this winter Daryoush has made his master thesis at Radscan Intervex.

We wish Daryoush very welcome to Radscan Intervex!



08.01.2008 New record order - Fortum Värme, Värtaverket

Fortum is a leading energy company in the Nordic countries and other parts of the Baltic Rim area. The activities cover the generation, distribution and sale of electricity and heat as well as the operation and maintenance of power plants.

Fortum is investing in a flue gas condensation plant to their PFBC boilers in Värtan, Stockholm. The flue gas condensation plant will be located between the existing condensers and the stack.

Radscan Intervex has received the order to deliver a turn-key flue gas condensation plant consisting of four condensers (two in series for each boiler) including our successful cleaningsystem for flue gas condensate.

This is Radscan’s biggest order ever. Twice the annual turn-over during 2006.

The plant will be commissioned during the autumn 2009 but some works will be performed during summer 2008, for example coating of two mild steel ducts in the existing 130m stack.

10.12.2007 New order - Växjö Energi AB

Radscan Intervex is selected to install a new condensate cleaning system at Växjö Energi AB. The system is designed to reduce the heavy metal content to ppb levels and the mercury content is not to exceed 0,5 ug/l clean water. 
 
The system consists of Ultra- and Micro filtration which removes all solid particles as well as high molecular organic rests such as oil and tar.

The dissolved heavy metal ions are later removed in a selective Ion Exchanger prior to releasing the cleaned condensate to local recipient.  




01.12.2007 Therése Lundgren - New employee

We are increasing our administrative economy staff by one person.

Therése Lundgren has a double bachelor degree in economics with special interest in ecology and environmental science.

Therése is a positive and ambitous young woman with both feets on the ground.







27.09.2007 New order - Mölndal Energi AB

Once again Radscan Intervex has been selected to deliver the Flue Gas Condensation system to a new boiler.

Mölndal Energi is increasing the capacity of Riskulla Powerplant.

12.07.2007 Another record breaking contract!

June 26:th 2007 a contract was signed between Söderenergi AB and Foster Wheeler AB.
The contract is for a CFB-boiler with utilities located at Igelsta power plant.
The boiler of 240 MW will produce approx. 200MW of district heating and 85MW electricity.
So far this is the biggest bio-mass fired power plant ever built in Sweden.

Juli 12:th a contract was signed with Radscan Intervex AB for the delivery of the Flue Gas Condensation part.
The Flue Gas Condensation will deliver 60-70 MW additional district heating energy.
This is by far the biggest contract in the history of Radscan Intervex AB. For the first time the contract value is 8 figures in Euros.

The main parts of the projects are 2 large flue gas condensors, 2 rotating humidifiers, condensate cleaning, flue gas- and air ducts and one beautiful stack.



212.07.2007 Order from Rättviks Lime factory.

Rättviks lime factory has two furnaces for lime burning, gas flow is approx. 75 000 m3/h 300 °C.

3-4 MW is recovered to district heating and the gas is cooled to roughly 120 °C.





02.06.2007 Vetlanda Energi & Teknik AB.

An order from Vetlanda Energi & Teknik AB.

Vetlanda Energi & Teknik AB has ordered a flue gas condensing system for its two biofuel-fired boilers at the Stickan boiler room.

Mikael comes from AB P.h. Nederman.

30.05.2007 National Gummi, Halmstad.

National Gummi in Halmstad has purchased a Reco-Ex-A unit for heat recovery and gas cleaning.

NATIONAL GUMMI was founded 1941 is managed by the third generation Rössel.

Over the years National has profiled itself towards extruded and moulded rubber profiles.




01.05.2007 Newly appointed process engineer and site manager

Helena Roos has been appointed process engineer and Jan Olof Ericsson site manager. The two of them will assume the positions as of today.

Helena passed the civil engineering exam at the Lund Technical College in 2005 within chemical engineering with a major in process. She previously worked within marketing at Procter & Gamble in Stockholm.

Janne is 35 years old and comes from Bjurenwalls, where he has worked as a fitter and site manager on cisterns and silos for many years.

06.03.2007 EAB in Smålandsstenar places an order for Reco-Ex-A.

EAB has placed an order for a Reco-Ex-A unit for energy recovery and gas cleaning. Hot exhaust gas from dryer and different furnaces is led to the unit.

EAB is a manufacturer of storage equipment, doors and steel buildings.







27.02.2007 Fortum Värme Orders Flue Gas Condensing System.

Fortum Värme Nynäshamn AB has ordered a system for flue gas condensation for its existing steam boiler of the BFB type with a 28
MW capacity.

The installation will be equipped with modern and qualified condensation equipment, designed to meet very strict requirements.







15.01.2007 Record breaking contract from Umeå Energi.

Umeå Energi has signed contracts for biomass-fired power plant and flue gas cleaning to Dåva 2.

Dåva 2 is the biggest project in the Umeå Energi history with a total investment exceeding €100 M. The plant will be commissioned during 2008 and running 2009.

In the Dåva 2 project Umeå Energi is meeting an increasing demand for district heating among the Umeå inhabitants and simultaneously reducing the oil dependency which is a reality for many power plants today.

Dåva 2 will be an environmental friendly plant with a total capacity of 105 MW (30 MW electricity).

For the biomass-fired plant Umeå Energi has signed a contract with Austrian Energy & Environment AG (AE&E).

Radscan Intervex AB in consortium with Bravida Sverige AB has been awarded the contract for flue gas cleaning. It is a “Turn-Key” delivery including ElectroStatic Precipitator (ESP), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), quench, scrubber, heat exchangers and flue gas condensate cleaning.

The condensate cleaning is as usual using membrane technology but in this case only Micro- and Ultra Filter is used. A Reversed Osmosis (RO) unit is still an option.

Radscan Intervex is the leader of the consortium.



02.01.2007 Order from Strängnäs.

SThe city of Strängnäs is investing €500M in a new power plant supplied by Babcock & Wilcox Völund.

The flue gas cleaning system is delivered by Radscan Intervex AB including condenser and flue gas condensate cleaning.

Peter Strömberg is employed as process engineer. Peter has a Masters degree in energy- & environmental technology and has been working for Radscan during summer holidays since 2003.

01.11.2005 Radscan Intervex moves to the Palace of C&S

The Radscan Intervex subsidiary Radscan Intervex Sp.z.o.o has moved to the Palace of culture and science.

During several years Radscan Intervex has been active on the Polish market. Primarily concerning the Intervex process for desulphurization of flue gases at coal fired power plants.

The general interest for bio power is however increasing in Poland making the condensation process interesting as well.








30.10.2005 Mazeikai, Litauen.

Radscans third order from Lithuania is a flue gas condenser to Mazeikai.

The 16MW biofuel-fired plant producing heat is now more efficient and environmental friendly.






28.04.2005 Condensate clening project in Västerås.

Mälarenergi AB has decided to invest in a flue gas condensate cleaning plant. The Radscan membrane technology is used with Micro- & Ultra filter (MF + UF) plus Reversed Osmosis (RO).


The project is environmental friendly but also economical. With this method clean water is produced which replaces the consumption of city water.
Another advantage is that the water produced is 45-48°C warm which equals 1-1,5 MW.

26.04.2004 Flue gas condensation project to the city of Mark

Wärtsilä Power Plants, Biopower, has ordered yet another flue gas condensation system from Radscan Intervex AB. The power plant is located in the city of Marks, Sweden.

The condensor is Radscan Intervex standard,  a vertically oriented tubular heat exchanger with the fluegas inside the tubes directed downwards.

08.03.2004 Utena Lithuania

Radscan Intervex have received a second order on a flue gas condensation project in Lithuania. We are pleased to note that the technology used in Sweden since the 1980´s is spreading in the Baltic region. The technology saves not only energy but is also the environment.

The Utena plant has an 8MW thermal output from biofuel. The new flue gas condensor increases this capacity by 25%.

 



05.03.2004 Anne Soojus, Tartu, Estonia

AS Anne Soojus (Tartu Energia) has ordered a flue gas condensing system for two existing bio mass boilers with a total thermal output of 36MW. Radscan Intervex AB has received the order as a turn key project including new building, condensate cleaning system, new stack, control system etc.

05.02.2004 Kuusankosken Aluelämmitys OY

We have received an order from Finland. Kuusankosken Aluelämmitys OY has decided to cooperate with Optiroc Oy to recover energy from their production plant and use it for the district heating system.

Flue gas from the Optiroc plant in Kuusankoski shall be cooled and energy-recovered. The boiler is a rotating drum producing Leca material.

We are setting up a complete flue-gas condensation installation, including economizer, heat exchangers and pumps. The plant is to be in operation already by October this year.

It will be running all year long and will continually recover 2-8 MW of energy.

Energy that earlier has “gone up in smoke”.

17.08.2003 Order for Fashion Dyers & Finishers Ltd.

The customers priority is to recover heat of exhaust gases, which are today led to the chimney. The heat recovered amounts up to approximately 550-750 kW to be used for preheating of process water. Approximately 10-15 m3/h hot water of 45-55 °C will be heated.

As additional effect they will achieve approximately 60-70% removal efficiency for the hydrocarbons in gaseous form.

To be able cleaning the exhaust gases from hydrocarbons, the gas temperature has to be brought down to such a low temperature that they condense to form of aerosols consisting of fine droplets.

Only condenser was necessary in this case for obtain sufficient separation of the oils. Fashion Dyers & Finishers Ltd care about the environmental. To get more efficient cleaning they add our RECO-LECTOR electrostatic precipitator.

The exhaust gases are cooled in the heat exchanger/condenser and a great deal of the oils is collected on the condenser tubes. To maintain high heat recovery efficiency the condenser is equipped with automatic cleaning of the tubes. It is not possible to maintain a steady and high efficiency on heat recovery and particle collection without the automatic cleaning.

 

 

 

16.08.2002 Transport of the worlds largest flue gas condenser

The Swedish roads authority has erected so called wire barriers on a large part of the Swedish larger roads.

These barriers are excellent from a safety point of view. On the other hand, the Swedish industry is faced with problems because of this.
It is not any longer possible to perform transports of heavy or wide equipment.
Concerning the 93 ton heavy flue gas condenser to Örebro, the problem was solved by transporting it mainly by sea.

31.06.2002 KoSa GmbH, Bad Hersfeld, Tyskland

Our efforts on the export markets have once again proved fruitful. KoSa Gmbh is one of Germany’s largest producers of synthetic high-tech textile fibres and filaments. KoSa Gmbh (www.kosa.com) has a number of plants, one of them is Bad Hersfeld with a few hundred employees. The unit was earlier part of the Hoechst Trevira group of companies (www.trevira.de), specialising in high-tech textile materials. Main production is polyester fibres with different thickness and strengths. We have earlier delivered a complete flue gas cleaning system for all five polyester production lines, with many heat exchangers of type Reco-Ex-A and electro-filters of type Reco-Lector. The installation is now supplemented with a horizontal high-temperature condenser of type Reco-Ex-A, HTK for temperatures over 200°C.



30.06.2002 Flue gas condenser for Sydkraft Mälarvärme AB

The production of the flue gas condenser for Örebro continues according to plan. The equipment will weigh over 90 tons, when filled with water the weight will increase to 140 tons.
It is a large piece of equipment. As far as we know it is the largest heat exchanger that has been built for flue gas condensing. The heat exchanger is FEM-calculated and complies with the new PED-requirements.

25.06.2002 Delsbo, Sweden

Sermet OY has ordered another flue gas condenser unit from us. The delivery shall be made on very short notice. The Finns are used to short times between order and delivery, which suits our organisation well, since we are flexible and like it when everything goes quick. The condenser is our “standard” tube-cooler with the gas in a vertical down direction inside the tubes.

Delsbo is situated in a wonderful spot of Hälsingland in Sweden, well known for the traditional folk dancing.

01.03.2002 Record breaking order from Sydkraft Mälarvärme AB

Today at the Åby plant in Örebro there are five heating boilers. The newest boiler P5 is of type CFB, which was commissioned in 1991, and will be furnished with a flue gas condenser. The boiler has an effect of 170 MW and is fired mainly by a mixture of peat and wooden fuel, which is made out of RT-flakes, creosote-flakes, and normal forest fuel consisting of bark, sawdust, and wooden flakes.

Sydkraft Mälarvärme has decided to invest in a plant for the condensation of flue gases. The order went to Radscan Intervex, including a complete plant for the cleaning of the condensation. The total sum of the order is over 3 000 000 EUR and is our biggest order so far.

The commitment intends to be a so called turn-key delivery, including stand work, mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as a measuring and control system.

The plant will include Sweden’s (or maybe the world’s) biggest flue gas condenser as well as top modern equipment for condensate cleaning.

Environmental issues are of great importance to Sydkraft’s business and for this project they have decided to push the condensate cleaning further than what has been done before. The condensate will therefore be cleaned as much as possible, in order to make it reusable in the process.

The condensate cleaning system to be installed is well proven, but still the first of its kind. Radscan Intervex will implement a modern method that is both effective and safe, with a low cost.

 



 



15.08.2000 Gullberna and Visby

The installation of two flue gas condensation units was completed during the summer. One at Gullberna, Karlskrona is for a 12 MW boiler and the other at Visby is for a 13 MW boiler. The picture shows the condition of the Visby project when the main components, a flue gas cooler and rotating humidifier were being mounted.

28.06.2000 Trelleborg Building Systems

The building enclosing our RECO_LECTOR system at the Norregårds factory was completed during June. More than 20,000 m3/h of curing fumes from 5 production lines is cooled and cleaned with our further-developed condenser and electrostatic filter system. The cleaning effect is at the 90% level. The photograph illustrates the installation of our unit.

25.06.2000 Hudik Kraft AB

We have received a large order from Hudik Kraft AB. We are to supply a complete flue-gas condensation installation, including humidification of the combustion air, for a 50 MW boiler. Our responsibility includes, in addition to a Reco-Flue flue gas condenser and a Roto-Flue humidifier, a new chimney, ducts, district heating pipes, district heating pump and condensate cleaning. The plant is to be in operation by the end of the year so the schedule is tight.

15.06.2000 Installation in Horda operational

We have delivered a post curing furnace for VAMAC rubber with associated cleaning equipment to Trelleborg Automotive AB. The cleaning equipment includes our new, modern, condensation- electrostatic W type RECO-LECTOR filter for cleaning highly viscous and sticky constituents. The installation is completely automatic with an advanced PLC + PC control system.
